32 Annual Origins Awards2005 Vanguard innovative Game Award.

Fun & Gaming in Las Vegas (GAMA)…

The 2005 Game and Manufactures Association (GAMA) convention was a blast. It was held in the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Three members of Team Darter attended: Bill Byrne, Dove Byrne and Jackie Therien. As attendees our goals were to meet with industry executives and pitch our game.

Open Gaming Forum

After exploring the convention we set up shop in the open gaming forum, a huge high-ceiling ed room with a bunch of circular tables set up for people to play games. It wan’t long before we had interested gamers coming up to us, wanting to play.

Playing Darter

The first day was very successful, as we were able to demo our game to the public, with a great response. Gary (Living Room Games) enjoyed the game so much he offered to write a review, which will be posted at RPG.net in the near future.

Playing Polarity

The second day, we sought out as many industry folk as we could. Our goal was to get as much feedback as we could, as well as test the level of enthusiasm that Darter generated. Although everyone was extremely busy with their own product lines, we made a lot of contacts and Darter did not disappoint.

SeigeStones

The final day, we wet with new contacts and made new friends, and were able to enjoy the convention. Besides Darter, there were some other very good games at GAMA.

Slugfest Games

Slugfest games has two card games of note. One is Kung Fu Fighting, and the other is a game based on Fencing. Ecos is reintroducing the game of Polarity. Polarity is a great game that uses the physics of magnetic polarity and hand-eye coordination. Live Oak Games’ abstract strategy game of SeigeStones is also very fun. Out of the Box Publishing is releasing a number of new games including Snorta!.

With GAMA, like GenCon, we at Team Darter took another successful step towards our goal of trying to get as many people as possible to play and enjoy Darter.

Thanks for all of your support.

Enjoy,

Team Darter
